After the tremendous success of the SR club in 2011, we can now confirm the first date for 2012! The SR club will be travelling north to Newcastle on the 18th-19th May. The idea is for trainees on the cusp of Consultant-dom (ST 4/5+) to get together to receive some instruction on the finer points of the transition. Words of wisdom and practical advice from our bosses about how to get jobs, where to get them and what to think about when you get there.
Alcohol may be consumed and go-karts may be raced. Food will be eaten. A formal programme will follow. We have been successful in the past raising sponsorship to offset the accommodation, food and event costs as much as possible. So, please put the date in your diary and let the organisers know if you can make it:

Dear Surgical Trainee,
The ASiT national surgical trainee survey is still open and running. Relevant to all nine surgical specialties, this survey focuses on the quality of your training. Now that trainees are directly contributing financially towards the cost of their training there is a need for publicly available measures of national training quality:
● Opportunities and quality of operating theatre based training.
● Ward round and out-patient clinic based training.
● Supervision and support from trainers.
● Access to regional training support e.g. teaching and simulation.
● Attending operating theatre and other learning opportunities in your own time.
Please click here to take the survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ASiT_training_survey
It takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Your response really counts!
The results will be released publicly to trainees, allowing comparison of training experiences between specialties and regions. Please note that your individual responses will remain anonymous. NB: If the survey link directs you straight to the SurveyMonkey homepage instead, then someone at your computer IP address has already completed the survey.
Sincerely,
Association of Surgeons in Training
